Hi my name is Andy and I have a question.
The problem is, I cannot get MSComm to work in one of the applications I am developing. This is on a Intel Core i7‐2600, 3.4GHz CPU machine with Windows XP 32 bit service pack 3.
I checked my system32 folder and I do have the files mscomctl.ocx and mscomm32.ocx. I also have mscomm32.oca which is (I believe) the resulting file when mscomm32.ocx is registered successfully with regsvr. But I don't have mscomctl.oca. I have tried to register mscomctl.ocx by running "regsvr32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" in cmd and get a message it is successfully registered. But maybe it is not? When I tried to reinstall VB I get an error message that "some items were not successfully registered" however the installation completes.
I have another machine with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. On this computer I have all the files mscomctl.ocx and mscomm32.ocx and mscomm32.oca and mscomctl.oca. So I'm thinking maybe my problem is because I'm using an i7 processor (which I have never used before for this application). Any ideas or advice? Thanks!
Do you guys think this is because I am using an i7 processor? Any other ideas? Thanks!
